Looking back, it would have been nice if the navy had shelled the beaches for a few hours first.

the humiliation ending was perfect

I think the reason they didn't was because they didn't want them to have time to bring armored units up to the beach. If there had been any significant number of tanks on the beach, Normandy would not have gone nearly as "well" as it did. I could be wrong though, I'm no history buff.

I was under the impression that it was overcast so the air force couldn't do the bombing they wanted. Allegedly the navy had trouble sighting targets and didn't dedicate enough firepower considering how big the defenses were.
StenStyren - Posted on Mar 12, 2010
@sole21000 You are right, the attack began as soon as there was daylight, no time for artillery fire. Having said that, the navy tried its very best to bombard the beaches as much as they could, they even went so close to the beaches that a lot of the ships stood on the bottom of the sea so they could take out the German artillery.

something to say is, You gotta learn some comedies mate. i mean, like c'mon, i learn the war from videogames. and some of those games are high in violence
LeLouchHaru12 - Posted on Mar 13, 2010
If that's true, than so was the actual movie. YMMV, but I'm laughing my ass off ova here.

Logic? In MY argument? It's more likely than you think.

Be cautious when next to a pyro.

jafilizola - Posted on Mar 18, 2010

Actually the navy bombarded the beaches for three hours before the assault, but most of the shelling fell short and created cyclones in the water before the landing craft, alot of soldiers were sucked under the landing craft when the doors opened because the cyclones would drag them under and into the propellers of the craft.
nacho453 - Posted on Mar 20, 2010
At the end THAT is a real VICTORY ! :)
