I agree with what tobe says about "certain images" how this film just dipicts bizarres images that we as humans gain from fear. It's very clever, and powerful.

It doesn't require a miracle. It's not about turning anything around. It always just goes forward, and that doesn't neccesarily mean its getting worse. Going forward and getting worse don't always correlate. How are you to say things won't get better? I think society in general has actually gotton better--and believe me I'm not one to be easily deluded. There are many things about the past that were a helluva a lot worse than they are today, not the horror movies though lol.
