Description: BiOGRAPHICAL NOTE: Baidar Bakht grew up in Parachinar [Kurram Agency], where his father worked as a government employee. He was introduced to the film industry by Yasmin Khan in pashto movie ARMAN in mid 1970s. It was the period when her relations with Badar Munir had turned a bit sour. ARMAN was very succesful at the box office. Other well received movies of Baidar Bakht included Ahsan, Ujrati Qatil, Qaidi, Lumbay, Swara, Laywanay Khan, and Da Wachay Khan. He was probably the only pukhto movie artist who did as well at the time as Asif Khan, Badar Munir and Niamat Sarhadi. Unfortunately he got addicted to heroine and other drugs, leading eventually to his untimely death in late 1990s. Baidar Bakht is buried in Manshera where he had settled during his film career. May God bless his soul. As a person Baidar Bakht was a decent and friendly fellow. I, along with a few of my fellow friends, had the opportunity to meet him in Manshera in 1983 and in 1986 at the Nain Suk hotel where he was staying. In 1983 he was accompained by Yasmin Khan and her daughter, whereas in 1986 he had a large film crew, including director Saeed Ali Khan [brother of film actress Waheeda Khan] with him. On both occasions, he was very friendly to us and invited us to meet him at Abbottabad where he was about to film some dance scenes.
